Artificial Intelligence & Computational Neuroscience

Artificial intelligence, neural networks and data-driven models for neuroscience and clinical medicine

Description

The Artificial Intelligence & Computational Neuroscience Research Program at INI Hannover develops AI-based and computational methods for analyzing complex clinical, imaging, neurophysiological and surgical data.

Its core areas include neural networks, automated image analysis and segmentation, quantitative longitudinal analysis and predictive modeling designed to make medical decision-making more objective and to support clinicians in diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up.

Imaging, clinical data, intraoperative information, histopathology, neurophysiology and functional outcomes will increasingly be integrated into multimodal computational models.

The long-term objective is to develop intelligent systems capable not only of detecting and quantifying changes but also of predicting individual disease trajectories and treatment outcomes and supporting specific diagnostic and therapeutic decisions.

Key Research Areas

Cross-Program Role

Artificial Intelligence & Computational Neuroscience will also serve as a methodological research platform across other INI research programs, particularly Brain Tumor Research, Brain Mapping, Spine Surgery, Neurorehabilitation, and Neurotechnology & Hearing Rehabilitation.
